What is Red Clover?

Red clover is a cool-season perennial and looks similar to white clover. Though it's called red clover, it actually produces pinkish to purple flowers. It also has leaves in groups of three with lighter green or white bands in a "V" shape. The stems have tiny hairs, and this weed clumps together to create a patch in the lawn.

How to Get Rid of Red Clover Weeds

Proper lawn maintenance is vital for keeping clover weeds out of the yard. Low mowing, good fertilization and an overall healthy turf will reduce the number of weeds in the lawn. When this weed is actively growing, apply a postemergent systemic herbicide on the patch to control the weeds from the shoots to the roots.
