What is Field Sandbur?

Sandbur is a summer annual that's found primarily in the Midwest states and the Southeast. It's easily identifiable by its seed head, which consists of a spike filled with tiny burs. This weed thrives in sandy soil and has leaves that are folded in the bud.

How to Get Rid of Field Sandbur Weeds

Using a pre-emergent herbicide that offers control over goosegrass and crabgrass will also work on sandbur weeds. However, it may take sequential applications for two months to get the greatest result. Apply the herbicide before crabgrass germination to knock out two weeds with one product.
