What is Wild Carrot?
Wild carrot, also known as Queen Anne's Lace, is a common weed and grows throughout a landscape, especially in fertile areas. It's a biennial weed that resembles a garden carrot during its first year but it starts producing stalks with white, flat-topped flowers in its second year of growth. It looks similar to hemlock but is edible, at least in its early stages. The foliage of this plant smell like a garden-variety carrot.
How Do You Get Rid of Wild Carrot?
A postemergent herbicide will help to eliminate wild carrot at the seedling stage, but you may have to use yearly applications to control the seedlings that emerge from the seedbank. A pre-emergent herbicide is also a wise choice to prevent early establishment in the lawn and garden area. Keeping your lawn thick and health is another way to keep out the unwanted wild carrot.
