What is Wild Garlic?

Wild garlic is a weed that grows from bulblets, which produce a strong garlic or onion smell when they're crushed. The stems appear slender, solid and waxy with small, greenish flowers at the top. The seedlings resemble grass seeds but are hollow and produce round leaves growing from the bulbs. Yes, this weed grows from several bulbs, making it harder to eliminate than other weeds in your yard.

How to Get Rid of Wild Garlic

Maintaining your lawn on a regular basis can help to curb wild garlic from growing and spreading on your property. Using 2,4-D in the winter and early spring can help provide some control. However, you may have to follow up with additional treatments the next year. Glyphosate may also provide some control when it's applied a couple times in the winter.
